Moonlight Loop Trail Hike

Join a park ranger for a hike on the Loop Trail under the light of the moon.
Along our journey we’ll look and listen for signs of the creatures that inhabit the park at night (which now will include us!). We’ll learn how they are able to survive and thrive in the park after dark. Learn how dark skies and light pollution affect these critters and some easy things we can do to help them (and ourselves)!
Meet in the campground, near the beginning of the Loop Trail.
Time: Approximately 1.5 hours.
Distance: 1.0 mile round trip.
Difficulty: easy-moderate.
Elevation gain: 125 feet.
Bring: Walking shoes; Flashlight (preferably with a red light option); Drinking water; Dress for the weather;
Entrance fee for the park is $7/person (children 12 and under are free); no additional fee to attend this program. Entry is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.

PETS are allowed on this hike;
Texas State Parks has a NEW reservation system. While we do not require reservations for any events at this time, without a day-use reservation, we cannot guarantee entrance into the park to attend this event. Day pass reservations can be made online at TexasStateParks.ReserveAmerica.com.
If you are arriving after office hours without a reservation, you will need to bring exact change, a check or have a Texas State Parks Pass already.
